Washington & Associates, a Contra Costa criminal defense firm, seeks a legal assistant.  Preferred candidates should have 1-5 years of experience as a legal assistant, an associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree, strong organizational skills and the ability to efficiently, meet strict deadlines, and prioritize tasks.  Candidates must be reliable and able to work independently.  Experience and comfort with a variety of computer software applications is essential.  The position also includes interaction with clients, clients’ families, court staff, experts, and attorneys so candidates must be able to communicate professionally and effectively both in writing and verbally.  Applicants must show attention to detail, be capable of learning quickly and accept redirection, if necessary.  The position involves providing administrative support to two attorneys.  Bi-lingual Spanish speakers are encouraged to apply.  Must consent to a background check.  This is a full-time position with benefits as well as accrued vacation and sick leave or a job share.  Salary commensurate with experience: $45,000-52,000/year (full time).
